Which documents need a Notary Public in Thailand, and which need MFA legalization?
Check the receiving authority's requirements for the specific document first. Some cases call for certification by a Thai Notarial Services Attorney; others require translation, consular legalization, or embassy certification. Thailand does not issue Apostilles as of September 2026, so no single certification chain applies to every destination.
Do I need a NAATI translator for Australian visa documents?
For submissions to the Department of Home Affairs or ImmiAccount, translations should carry a current NAATI certification stamp showing the translator number and expiry date, because that is what case officers verify. Thai MFA legalization is usually not required for Australian lodgements unless the receiving body specifically asks for it.
Can the whole process be handled remotely from overseas?
Yes for most workflows. You can send high-resolution scans, review the draft translation online, and receive certified hard copies by international courier. Only steps that legally require signing in the presence of the certifying attorney need an in-person appointment at a branch or an agreed meeting point.
How long does certified translation and legalization take?

Why do foreign authorities reject Thai documents?
The most common causes are name spellings that differ from the passport, copies issued too long before submission for the destination's validity window, incomplete translation that omits stamps or reverse-side text, mismatched document numbers or dates, and translators whose status the destination does not recognise. Each of these is checked before delivery.
Which languages are covered?
