If you are a foreigner in Thailand who needs documents notarized for use abroad — for visa applications, company incorporation, marriage, real estate, or court proceedings — this guide explains exactly how the process works in 2026.

What is a Notary Public in Thailand?

Thailand does not have a separate Notary Public office. Instead, the Lawyers Council of Thailand licenses qualified attorneys as Notarial Services Attorneys. They certify signatures, true copies, affidavits, Powers of Attorney, and company resolutions for international use.

Documents commonly notarized

  • Power of Attorney (real estate, banking, company)
  • Affidavit of single status / marriage / income
  • Certified true copies of passport, work permit, degrees
  • Board resolutions and company documents
  • Translations into Thai/English/other languages

Process at ILC

  1. Send scanned documents via LINE @ilc-thailand for quote and document check
  2. Walk-in or schedule appointment at our Bangkok / Khon Kaen / Udon Thani / Nong Khai offices
  3. Sign in front of the Notarial Services Attorney with photo ID
  4. Receive notarized originals same-day in most cases

After notarization

If the destination country requires apostille or consular legalization, ILC can run the document through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the destination embassy on your behalf. See our MFA Legalization service and embassy directory.
