In Thailand the Notary is called a "Notarial Services Attorney" — a lawyer specially trained and registered with the Lawyers Council of Thailand, with authority to certify signatures, copies, oaths, translations, and general documents for overseas use.
Acceptance depends on the receiving authority and purpose of use. Check its instructions before ordering notarisation instead of consular legalisation.
As of September 2026, Thailand does not issue Apostilles; the Convention takes effect for Thailand on 28 February 2027 according to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Check whether the receiving authority requires MFA legalisation, embassy attestation, or another step.
