NAATI police certificate translation | Recorded result and recipient rules
Review the existing police certificate and the recipient’s language requirements before commissioning. Translation neither issues a new certificate nor changes its recorded result.

Check the certificate language before translating
Provide complete pages showing the issuer, language, date and any stated purpose. A certificate already in English may not need retranslation; verify the actual recipient’s checklist first.
Do not treat records from different police bodies as interchangeable. If a specific record or a fresh issue is requested, address that with the issuer before translation.
Preserve the result and any limitations
Translate names, references, dates, findings and qualifications as recorded. Do not insert a no-record conclusion where the source does not say that.
Describe visible seals and signatures without recreating police insignia or presenting the translation as newly issued by the police. Replace unreadable scans rather than guessing their content.
Separate language work from obtaining the certificate
A certificate application, fingerprint process and character assessment are distinct from translating a record already issued. Tell staff which tasks you need so they can scope them separately.
Translation does not renew an issue date or establish visa character eligibility. Follow the current request for document age and relevant countries rather than assuming one validity period for all applications.
Verify credentials for the actual application
Where NAATI is required, check the assigned practitioner’s CPN, certification and language direction. CCL is not professional translator certification.
Home Affairs distinguishes translator information inside and outside Australia. Use the relevant guidance and checklist; a translation does not automatically satisfy the character requirement.
Limit personal data and agree the quotation
Share only the certificate and relevant name evidence through agreed channels. Do not send police-account passwords. Identify requirements for signatures, electronic or paper copies and separate certification.
Contact our team for a quotation distinguishing translation from any source-document work. Agree delivery without assuming a fixed completion time, fee or visa decision.
Questions before commissioning
Does an English police certificate need NAATI translation?
Not automatically. Check the actual certificate and the recipient’s language requirements before commissioning.
Does translation reset the certificate’s validity?
No. It does not change the source issue date; the recipient sets its document-age requirements.
Will this guarantee the character requirement is met?
No. The authority assesses the applicant’s history and evidence. Translation preserves the source wording only.
