NAATI divorce translation | Certificate, register or court order?
A divorce certificate, register entry and court order serve different evidential purposes. Identify the requested record before translating rather than treating one listing as a complete proof of divorce.

Identify the divorce record and its attachments
Send the full records and the recipient’s request, including headings and issuing authorities. List attached agreements or court orders separately; a certificate alone may not contain the terms recorded elsewhere.
Check with the issuer if a fresh extract or current-status evidence is requested. Translating an existing record does not issue an updated status certificate.
Retain each party’s recorded name and event date
Check former surnames, registration references and the dates described in each record. A registration date and a date in a court order should not be merged without source support.
Supply relevant passport spellings and name-change evidence. Do not replace a prior name or add a statement that discrepancies have been resolved where the source does not say so.
Keep custody and property conclusions outside the translation
Translate child, maintenance and property wording from the complete supplied record. A child’s name appearing in a register does not justify adding a sole-custody conclusion.
Translation does not decide overseas recognition of an order or whether proceedings are final. Scope any request for additional proof or legal advice separately.
Apply the divorce recipient’s credential requirements
Provide the current requirements of the authority receiving the record. Where NAATI is specified, check the actual practitioner’s CPN, certification and language direction. CCL is not professional translator certification.
Home Affairs distinguishes translator information inside and outside Australia. Visa-document guidance does not automatically establish recognition of a divorce by a foreign court or register.
Quote each register, agreement and order separately
Identify all attachments, declaration requirements and any separate copy certification or legalisation. These are not automatically included in a translation.
Contact our team for a quotation and agree delivery and corrections for changed sources. Share only necessary family information; no visa outcome or fixed turnaround is promised.
Questions before commissioning
Can a divorce certificate replace a court order?
Do not assume so. Ask which record and details the recipient requires.
Will translation certify sole custody?
No new custody right is certified. Translation preserves the supplied evidence; competent authorities decide its legal effect.
Should I include an attached agreement?
Identify the attachment and the recipient’s request so staff can scope the relevant pages in the quotation.
