Notary after NAATI translation | Identify the required certification

NAATI concerns practitioner credentials. Notarial work must identify what the recipient wants certified; it is not a compulsory final stage for every translation or a guarantee of acceptance abroad.

Obtain the recipient’s exact certification request

Identify whether the request concerns the translation, a copy, a signature or a declaration, with the country and receiving authority. The word notarised alone does not define the task.

Separate translator certification from attorney certification

Verify the actual translator’s CPN, certification and language direction. CCL is not professional translator certification. An attorney’s certificate cannot upgrade CCL or authenticate every underlying source.

Confirm attendance and source requirements for the specific act

Signature witnessing and copy certification involve different checks. Ask staff who must attend and which identification and originals are required. A scan alone is not sufficient for every act.

Keep Notary distinct from destination legalisation procedures

Notarial certification is neither an Apostille nor embassy legalisation. The Apostille Convention enters into force for Thailand on 28 February 2027; do not assume a Thai Apostille can currently follow this add-on. Check consular and recipient instructions for the actual document.

Quote only the agreed certification tasks

Identify records, signatories, recipients and delivery format. Contact our team for a quotation. Use outside Australia or New Zealand does not automatically require extra certification, and acceptance is not guaranteed.

Questions before commissioning

Does every NAATI translation require a Notary?

No. Identify the recipient’s specific requirement rather than adding steps solely because of the destination.

Can a Notary convert CCL into translator certification?

No. They are distinct credentials and services.

Is Notary certification an Apostille?

No. Check treaty status and the separate Thai and destination procedures.
