Check a NAATI translator CPN | Credentials, direction and verification limits
A practitioner check consults NAATI credential information. It does not let ILC issue NAATI credentials or guarantee every document displaying a number is authentic or acceptable.

Obtain the CPN of the responsible practitioner
Match the number and identity to the person responsible for the actual translation, not a business or coordinator. Use the official Check a NAATI Certification channel rather than relying only on a forwarded stamp image.
Read certification type and language direction
Record the certification, languages and status actually displayed. Interpreting and translating are distinct services; CCL is not professional translator certification. Ask NAATI about missing details rather than guessing numbers or results.
Separate a current credential check from historic translation checks
Results have a check date and input context. Do not automatically invalidate an earlier translation because a practitioner’s status later changed. Check the translation date and NAATI translation-verification guidance where relevant, then recipient rules separately.
Keep company notes distinct from NAATI-issued credentials
Confirm what evidence the recipient requests and from whom. An ILC assistance note is not a newly issued credential. Digital-signature verification and source authentication are not automatic inclusions.
Use official checks directly or commission scoped assistance
Customers can consult official NAATI channels themselves. If staff assistance is required, request a quotation and agree deliverables. No application outcome is guaranteed, and practitioner information should be limited to what is necessary.
Questions before commissioning
Can a company or coordinator replace the practitioner check?
No. Check the credential holder responsible for the actual work.
Does changed status automatically invalidate an older translation?
Do not assume this. Check the translation date, NAATI guidance and the recipient’s requirements.
Is an ILC note a new NAATI certificate?
No. Consult NAATI channels when official credential evidence is required.
