Why the file matters more than the paperwork

Legalisation is a sequential process. One missing item at the start halts every later stage and puts the file back at the end of the queue. A common example in NAATI translation work is scans that skip a page, so the translation omits text inside a seal and the receiving authority rejects the whole set. Frequently asked questions

What does a certification file need at minimum?

A freshly re-issued certified original from the issuing authority, a complete translation covering every page including stamps and seals, a copy of the document holder's passport or ID, and a power of attorney if someone else files on your behalf. Everything else depends on the document type and the receiving authority.

Can I file a self-made photocopy instead of the original?

Generally no. The certifying authority must inspect the original or a certified re-issued copy. Self-made copies are accepted only as supporting items, such as the ID copy of the person granting a power of attorney.

Does an old certified copy still count?

Often not. Many receiving authorities set a validity window for certified copies. If yours was issued outside that window you will be asked to obtain a new one, which restarts the whole certification sequence.

If every box is ticked, is approval guaranteed?

No tool can guarantee an authority's decision. This checker confirms the file is complete against the standard item list. Translation wording and the order of certification should still be reviewed by an experienced team before filing.
