AI Quick Answer

Thai documents used abroad require 3 layers: (1) MFA-recognized certified translation, (2) MFA (Department of Consular Affairs) legalization, (3) destination-embassy attestation — except Hague Apostille members (128 countries incl. Thailand) which accept Apostille in place of step (3). Turnaround 8–21 business days, fees from THB 800/page.

Service Overview

Whether you are traveling, studying, working, marrying, investing, or transacting with foreign government agencies, Thai documents almost always need proper consular legalization. This covers civil-registry documents (birth, marriage, divorce, death certificates), educational documents (transcripts and degrees), corporate documents (DBD affidavit, VAT certificate, board resolutions, POA), court and police documents (Police Clearance, judgments), financial and property records, medical certificates, IP registrations, and commercial contracts. ILC provides fully-managed service from procuring the source document, certified translation, notarization, MFA legalization, and embassy attestation at the destination country's embassy in Bangkok — or issuance of an Apostille under the Hague Convention 1961, to which Thailand acceded effective 20 January 2024.

Apostille vs Full Legalization — Which Applies?

The Hague Apostille Convention (1961) is an international treaty allowing public documents from one member state to be used in another with just a single "Apostille" certificate — no embassy attestation required. Currently around 128+ countries are members; the remaining 71 still require Full Legalization (Notary → source MFA → destination embassy → destination MOFA). Which path applies depends on the destination country, not the origin. Even for Hague destinations, certain documents (Islamic religious, some Middle-East family documents, or destination-specific special filings) may still require additional embassy attestation. Always confirm with the receiving agency.

Document Categories

ILC covers 63+ document types across 15 categories — personal, corporate, education, medical, IP, and specialized filings. Certified translation is available in the language required by the receiving agency, including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese, Italian, Turkish, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Khmer, Lao, Burmese, Hindi, and more upon request.
